Phone case drawing ideas
Draw on paper, not on the case: print a light design or coloring page at your phone’s exact size, draw on it with pencils or pens, cut it out and slide it behind a clear case. If you do not like the result, draw another. Keep the drawing away from the camera corner and about 3 mm in from the edge.
15 things to draw
- A doodle border. Small stars, hearts and dots around the edge, plain in the middle.
- Single-line face. One continuous line that makes a face or a flower.
- Constellations. White pen dots and lines on a dark background.
- Tiny flowers. A repeat of small blooms, like the cottagecore designs.
- Pixel art. Colour in squares on graph paper cut to size.
- A mini comic strip. Three panels down the length of the phone.
- Lyrics or a quote in hand lettering, in the lower half.
- Watercolour wash. Soft colour on watercolour paper, with a small line drawing on top.
- Mandala. Fill the shape with a repeating pattern. Or start from a mandala coloring page.
- Pets. A simple outline of your cat or dog.
- Fruit and food. Flat, bright shapes with a thick outline.
- Plants and leaves. Trace real leaves in pencil.
- Your initials in big bubble letters.
- A tiny landscape. A sunset, a mountain or waves, drawn in layers.
- Doodle your day. Draw one new tiny picture each week and swap the insert.
How to make an insert to draw on
- Open the insert maker and choose your phone.
- Pick a light design (try the pale minimal ones) or a coloring page as your guide, or use the on-screen Draw tool. The cut line and camera window are printed on the sheet, so you can also trace them onto your own paper.
- Download the PDF and print at 100%. Draw on the printed sheet, or on your own paper using the printed outline.
- Cut out the outline and the camera window, then slide it behind the case.
Tips
- Pencil, fineliner or gel pen are safest. Alcohol markers and highlighters can bleed through thin paper, so use heavier paper. See the paper guide.
- Let it dry before you slide it in, so ink does not smear on the phone.
- Draw big. Small details get lost behind the case. Use thick lines.
- Want to keep a drawing? Photograph it flat in daylight, upload it in the photo insert maker and print as many copies as you like.
Questions
Can I draw directly on the phone case?
You can on some cases, but it is hard to undo. A drawn paper insert is swappable and costs one sheet of paper.
Is there a version for kids?
Yes. The phone case coloring pages are outlines already shaped like a phone insert, with the camera window marked.
What if my drawing does not fit the camera window?
The camera window is marked on the printout. Keep the main drawing away from it, and cut the window last.
